When do tickets go on-sale for the shows at the Orpheum, Majestic, and Barrymore Theaters?
Tickets are on-sale now.
Are tickets refundable?
No. Sadly, they are not.
What if I want to upgrade my pass?
Email email@example.com or call 250-2600 for assistance upgrading your badge, or to purchase a student pass. As long as the other levels are not sold out, we should be able to accommodate.
When will the full schedule be available?
Are these show All-Ages?
Some of our Majestic Madison and Comedy Club on State shows are 18+ due to content. Individuals who have not attained the age of twenty-one (21) will be permitted to enter, subject to being clearly marked as underage. Attempting to or removing the underage marking while in the venue will result in immediate ejection from the venue.
- The following venues are All Ages: Orpheum, Comedy Club on State (Thursday and Sunday), Majestic (Sunday), and the Barrymore Theater.
- These venues are 18+ only: Comedy Club on State, Friday-Saturday.
Will I be able to purchase single tickets to any of the shows at the door?
Yes, unless sold out.
When do the doors open?
Seating begins, generally, one hour prior to showtime, with shows that start later having shorter seating periods to account for clean-up from earlier shows.
Can I Marathon it? I.E. stay in the same seat from show to show?
While we do need to remove patrons from the venue for cleaning between shows, we will have on hand temporary placards where you can write your name and reclaim your proud throne for the next show.
How long is a comedy show?
Shows with more than three comedians generally run seventy-five minutes, shows with three last roughly ninety minutes.
Where do I submit materials to be considered as a performer at the festival?
Unfortunately, most of the performance slots this year are already filled. Throughout the year, you can submit a short video of yourself along with your full name, telephone number, and the names of a few fellow comedians or venues who admire your work to firstname.lastname@example.org and he will make sure the information gets to the right people.
Can I buy tickets to individual shows?
Absolutely! Tickets are available at madisoncomedyfest.com. In addition, tickets are available at the box offices for each venue.
Are all shows 21 and over?
Absolutely not. Security will check the age of every patron as they enter each venue, and individuals under the age of twenty-one (21) will be given wristbands clearly marking them as underage. Removing or destroying the wristband will be grounds for immediate ejection from the venue, without refund.
Are tickets transferable?
Badges and tickets can only be transferred with the consent of the individual venue by contacting email@example.com at least one week prior to the commencement of the festival. In order to avoid having our guests overpay for tickets through secondary market channels such as scalpers, we openly discourage this practice.
What does my VIP or Student Pass get me?
Your Charlie and the Chocolate Factory style pass grants you front-of-the-line access to shows, a free poster, a gift bag, and access to the Saturday Night VIP afterparty. If you purchased such a badge, we will contact you regarding the details of those events through the email that you used when you bought the pass. Call 608-250-2600 to buy a pass.
What if I am running late, can I call ahead?
Due to the nature of the festival, individualized accomodations for latecomers will not be possible. If you arrive late to a show, and there is available seating, you will be seated at such point as would not disrupt the performance.
Can I bring my camera?
You are welcome to bring your camera, but you are not welcome to record video or take photographs during the performances without the express prior authorization of the performers. For those performers that do not mind photo and or video, a sign will be posted in the venue on your way in. If you do not see that sign, it is safe to assume that camera work is not allowed at that particular show. If cameras are allowed during the show, the flash must be turned off and all camerawork must be done in the most unobtrusive fashion possible out of respect for your fellow patrons.
Whatever you do, be sure to upload your pictures immediately and tag us on Instragram, Facebook, and Twitter!
Will there be anything to eat or drink?
Drink yes, eat, no. There are so many fantastic restaurants in Downtown Madison, it would be an absolute travesty for you to be here and not try some of them. The lower cost options are located in the 400-500 block of State Street, with table service and fine dining becoming more prevalent as you approach the State Capital. That being said, every venue has a full-service bar offering everything from beer to specialty cocktails and fine wine.
How are the shows seated?
Seating is first come, first served, with accommodations for patrons with disabilities. With a ticket you are guaranteed tickets to the show if you arrive prior to showtime.
